Dance Valley 2008
For Heineken Refreshing Sounds and Dance Valley 2008 we have created the Dance Valley Mobile Map. In this application people can see the line up and the map of the festival. On the map users can see the service points (bars, toilets, food, etc), and the music tents. By clicking on any tent, users get the line up of that tent, and they can set an alarm for their favorite DJ. On the map, people can also see where they are. This was enabled by our bluetooth localisation technology.
The application was received really well and the bluetooth location detection worked excellent. We had about 50 bluetooth devices covering the Dance Valley area, and people were detected within a 10 or 100 meter range. There were about 8500 people using the application, which was promoted before the festival through a widget and banners on Hyves. It was distributed by SMS and bluetooth at the festival. At the entrance of the festival there was a promo team and big signs telling people to either turn on their bluetooth or text "dance to 3010" to get the application.
