What is your popularity worth?
Gifted was a participatory installation built in 2008 for the Impakt Foundation for a festival themed “Yourspace”. The idea was that people could rate each other on a criterion that changed every day of the festival. Depending on their rating people were rewarded, thus making their popularity tangible.
Spaesuvius build the mobile application that was used for the rating of people and made the installation a success. When entering the festival each entrant was asked to download the application on their mobile phone and rate as actively as possible. Because the festival organizers didn’t have the means to setup an entire distribution system, we made a single application distribution that could adapt itself to different phone resolutions.
